Wood's Home Furnishings was established in 1967. At the time, Harold Wood was working for a local tractor company and attending a local tech school at night to learn how to repair appliances and to earn his electrical license. While working during the day and attending night school, he built a small shop behind his house. In a short period of time, he had acquired a large customer base. People frequently asked Harold why he didn't sell appliances; so, in 1969, he became a Gibson Appliance dealer and formed a company called Harold’s Electric.

Soon Harold’s customer base grew to the point where he had to quit his job at the tractor place and devote all of his time to the appliance business. When the small shop behind the house became too small, he bought a lot from a neighbor next door and built a bigger and better store. Years later he added Zenith televisions to his line and business grew every year after that. In the late 1970’s, Harold added waterbeds—the new thing to sleep on--to his line up. He put one on the floor and instantly he was selling 30 to 40 of them a month. Other furniture soon followed.

In 1982 Harold’s son, Vincent, came on board full time after finishing school and getting married. By the late 1980’s, Harold and Vincent’s showroom had grown to over 10,000 feet. Then in the late 1990’s, they changed the name to Wood’s Home Furnishings Inc. and added on to the building again.

They now have a full line of furniture displayed in over 15,000 square feet. Wood’s offers living room, dining room, and bedroom furniture, mattresses, recliners, and many more home furnishing items. Wood’s has grown over the years with one main objective--the customer always comes first!! Their excellent customer service has contributed to their growth each and every year. Harold and Vincent believe that if you treat people right, they will come back and buy again. Many people have told them they need to move to a larger town, but they keep their overhead down by being in the same location, in a small town, for over 30 years.
